Join me on my travels!
Since international travel has become more difficult for giraffes and humans, I've been going through many of my travel photos. I have been very fortunate to see many places and meet many people and other animal friends.
Today, I am going to share some of those photos with you! There's a lot, so I may share more next week too!
This was a stop on my way home to Zambia, from Europe! The pyramids at Giza. I met some camels along the way, giving rides to humans. I asked if I could take their picture, but they were camera shy. I'm not sure they had ever met a giraffe before.
This next one was really scary at first, but as soon as I landed, I wanted to go again! The pilot said he had never flown a giraffe to go skydiving before. Most giraffes couldn't fit on his plane, but that's one advantage of being a short necked giraffe!
This trip to Mexico was really wonderful! It was Christmas time and I took my books to an orphanage to give the children. All the children were so nice. We played football (Soccer) and basketball together until it was time to leave. The picture is from the patio of the hostel I stayed at with my friends and travel partners from You-nique Productions.
This is my friend Sam, the panda, not the toucan. The toucan's name is Fred. This was taken in San Diego CA, USA, on my way home from Mexico. They live on a wildlife reserve. Fred said his family is endangered. I promised to make him a mug & maybe a shirt. Then I can give some of the sales money to an organization to help protect his family. Sam and Fred are both really great guys! We wanted to stay in touch, but It's really hard for them to find a computer to skype with on the reserve and they don't have a mobile phone allowance. So, we decided to be pen pals. :-)
This last one for today, is on a beach in Australia. I thought I was going to have to wait for the outback tour to meet them, but they said they hadn't been to the beach for a long time. We wound up having a really nice picnic together and chatting about a story they are thinking about writing. Their names are Kobe and Marta. They have a son they call Joey, but that's not his name, it's just what they call baby kangaroos. His name is Kobe Jr.
I hope you all enjoyed these photos. I want to encourage everyone, that when they can, to go as many places and make as many friends as possible, no matter how different they may be. I know that I have learned a lot about myself from learning about others.
I'll be back with more pictures and stories next week!
