A day at home
This week I decided to tell you a little more about my daily life at home in Zambia. I don't have much in the way of photos from home. So, I will be using some of the pictures we made from my books.
The first thing I do in the morning is get up and make my bed. Then I have a healthy breakfast. My mom won't let me go outside until I do.
After breakfast I work on my neck exercises and practice different sports that I want to be good at for the next school year. The picture below is when I was practicing neck exercises with my grandparents.
My grandpa is super cool! He used to coach basketball and gave me lots of pointers!
After I practice, I help my mom with some chores. She didn't used to let me help so much, because I would usually make more mess. It wasn't on purpose, but a lot of giraffe chores require having a more giraffe like neck.
Eventually, by using what I learned from my neck exercise book and strengthening my neck muscles, I was able to do more. Now when I help hang out the laundry, she doesn't have to rewash it all again.
A lot of the time. I help out in the garden. That's my favorite chore, because it's not really a chore at all. It's fun!
After I help with chores, I sometimes write. I have a lot of pen pals to write letters to and new stories that I want to make.
I've been learning to draw too. So I may make some books with drawings next!
If I don't write in the afternoon, I do it after dinner. I try to write every day!
I also like to always make time for my friends! I don't get to see many of them right now, but I am really looking forward to playing with them all again!
That is the only thing that I sometimes don't like when I'm traveling. I travel with my books during almost all of my school breaks, and sometimes I go to visit my grandparents. That means that I usually only get to see my friends during school. I can hardly wait to get back!
My favorite subject is still sports, but I also really enjoy learning about history and geography! It makes me want to visit and learn about all the places in the school books. It also makes traveling more fun, because I can compare what I learned about places in school with what they are like now when I visit.
What's your favorite subject?
At the end of the day, I make sure that I brush my teeth really good, and sometimes take a bath in the river behind our house.
Then, sometimes I play games with my sisters. Before bed my mom, or my dad, still read me a bedtime story.
After my parents go to bed, I often stay up and read to myself some more until I fall asleep. I love books! I have a whole stack from the library by my bed!
Now you know what an average day around home looks like for me. Not always exciting, but I like it.
Our garden is looking really good now and it makes me feel good knowing that I can help around the house and also that I am getting a lot of writing done. It's been a good day! I hope you are having a good day too!
